A family-owned, boutique mortgage broking company

Mortgage First - here to help you

You’ll deal direct with our mortgage advisers - Sam Parsons,  Anthony Yee, Guy Parsons or Karen Dilger. Established in 1996, we are one of Canterbury’s original mortgage broking specialists. We have longstanding relationships with our lenders. Their respect for our experience, reliability and honesty means we can often negotiate a better offer for you.

Simple process

The entire process of working with us can easily be done via phone and email. This saves you time by eliminating unnecessary meetings, and enables us to help clients throughout New Zealand, as well as Christchurch and Canterbury. You won’t need to chase lenders at all - we can be your sole point of contact. 95% of our business is through repeat or referred clients – a reflection of how we make the process of obtaining mortgage lending as simple as possible. Our Process

Free mortgage advice

Our advice is free to our customers, unless a fee is stated and agreed in advance. This is because normally, we receive a commission from the home loan provider you choose. For more information about this, see our Disclosure Statement. We’ll provide independent advice, assist with your mortgage application and negotiate with lenders on your behalf. Sam, Anthony, Guy & Karen also provide ongoing support - for example, should you need to refinance or restructure your home loan in the future.

Sam

SAM PARSONS

Mortgage Adviser and Director

Sam took over Mortgage First from Rob & Vicki Parsons in 2020. Sam started as an adviser in 2014, developing a great skill set and a knack for fulfilling clients’ needs with minimal fuss. Sam has professional and personal experience in home buying, building and development, and treats your investments like one of his own. Sam and wife Chloé are also the proud owners of the Mortgage First paper shredder/office dog, Morris the black lab.

Karen

KAREN DILGER

Mortgage Adviser

Karen started with the team at Mortgage First in March 2021 after working as a Mortgage Adviser at another Christchurch firm since 2017. Prior to this, Karen worked in various roles at The National Bank and ANZ for 11 years.
When Karen isn’t working you’ll find her out exploring walking tracks with her husband James and dog Bonnie (@a.border.collie.called.bonnie) or watching far too much Netflix.

Vicki

ANTHONY YEE

Mortgage Adviser

Anthony is one of the nicest guys you'll meet, and adds a wealth of mortgage advice experience (along with his Bachelor of Commerce) to the team.  Football and NBA-loving Anthony has property development in his blood, and after graduating from university navigated his way into mortgage advising. He loves meeting people, learning about their situations and helping them into homes or investment properties.

Vicki

GUY PARSONS

Mortgage Adviser

Guy started with Mortgage First in 2020 and has helped clients with a wide range of lending scenarios, from first home buyers through to complex investment purchases and funding for building projects.
Prior to mortgage advice, Guy worked for 11 years in media & communications - ask him which celebrities, sports stars and politicians he met in those years!

Anthony

CHARLOTTE MCLEAN

Adviser Support

Charlotte’s experience in banking dates back to her first job with BNZ in 1987. She made the switch to mortgage adviser support in 2016, gaining a great set of skills helping advisers and clients with multiple lenders.
In 2021 she started with Mortgage First, and is a great fit – partly because she can swap stories about jet-skiing and mad pets with the rest of the team.

Ange

ANGE HOOPER

Operations Manager

Ange makes things happen at Mortgage First. She’s bright and enthusiastic, as well as extremely efficient. When she joined Mortgage First in 2016 she brought over 20 years of banking and insurance experience with her, and is a huge asset to the team. When she's not in the office, she'll be boating or on a callout with the local volunteer fire brigade, where she's been volunteering since 2014.

Rob

ROB PARSONS

(Retired)

Rob and his wife Vicki established Mortgage First in 1996, becoming one of Canterbury’s first mortgage specialists.

As of June 2021, Rob managed to transition himself out of the business, as important duties like gardening, looking after grandkids and holidaying take priority.

Vicki

VICKI PARSONS

(Retired)

Now retired, Vicki helped Rob establish Mortgage First in 1996, in their 6 square-metre ‘office’ at home. Juggling between database management and looking after 4 young boys kept her busy as the business grew.
She is now happily spending more time on grandparent duties and in the garden!
