Helping Kiwis in to homes since 1996
Need advice about getting a mortgage? Or perhaps your finances are sorted, and now you want the very best home loan offer possible. Sam, Anthony, Guy & Karen will make buying your first home a simple process; one of the most exciting times of your life, not one of the most stressful!
Sam, Anthony, Guy or Karen will be your one point of contact from your initial discussion, right through to finalising your home loan. We can help no matter where you are in New Zealand - whilst we are based in Christchurch, in most cases we can complete the entire process with you by phone and email. As one of Canterbury’s original mortgage broking specialists, our trusted relationships with a wide range of bank and non/bank lenders, usually means you end up with a better home loan offer than if you approach the lender/s directly. Learn more about Our Process.
We can also provide advice regarding KiwiSaver, which provides two ways to help first home buyers - KiwiSaver First Home Grant and KiwiSaver First Home withdrawal. As a previous home owner you may still be eligible for both a KiwiSaver First Home grant and a first-home withdrawal, providing you have not received them for a previous home purchase and meet the eligibility criteria.
This replaced the previous ‘KiwiSaver deposit subsidy’ for first home buyers. Various eligibility criteria include that you are a member of a KiwiSaver scheme, complying fund or exempt employer scheme, and you've contributed to it for at least three years.
If you’re eligible and if you belong to a complying fund (not all KiwiSaver providers offer First-Home Withdrawal as an option), to buy your first home you may be able to withdraw your KiwiSaver savings - provided you leave a minimum balance of $1,000 in your KiwiSaver account.
We can also assist with applying for the government-supported 'First Home Loan' (formerly known as a Welcome Home Loan). The First Home Loan initiative is an attractive option for first home buyers, as it only requires a 5% deposit. The First Home Loan is offered by lenders, supported by Kāinga Ora (formerly Housing NZ), and designed for first home buyers who can afford to make regular repayments on a home loan, but have trouble saving for a large deposit. The Kāinga Ora website has more info, including an eligibility check and an application guide. We're always happy to help you through this process.
